REVIEW: THE DESIGN ANNUAL 2007
Merten's presentation at this year's The Design Annual with the theme “Link me up!” was once again a great success.

The exhibitors were selected by an independent committee so that visitors are guaranteed a high-quality, exclusive, innovative experience at the event.

Stand visitors could explore around 50 m² of various Merten living environments, experience the comfort of KNX technology, and "turn on to" individual scenarios in bedroom, living room and kitchen areas.

Merten's stand design was inspired by the dramatic film “Dogville” by director Lars von Trier, whose minimal set was praised by critics and audiences in 2003. At Merten's stand, rooms were also just implied. Walls and pathways from an architect's drawing were transferred onto the floor in 1:1 scale, and formed the basic floor plan for the atmosphere that concentrated on the essentials of switching.

KNX DALI GATEWAY – IQ FOR YOUR BUILDING
Do your customers want to save energy or do they prefer scenes that create a certain atmosphere? Then the KNX DALI gateway is the right Merten product for you.

The DALI gateway connects the cross-function KNX installation bus to the DALI bus designed exclusively for lighting control. With this, cost-effective digital electronic ballasts with DALI interfaces can be integrated into a complete KNX system as a subsystem and operated by the wide range of available KNX devices.

In addition to the KNX and the DALI interfaces, the device has two passive inputs for directly connecting conventional push-buttons or movement detectors.

MÖVENPICK HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM
One reference is worth more than a thousand words
Solutions for intelligent buildings are available in over 130 countries. Especially in places where high-utility solutions are required: in houses, offices, hotels, schools and public buildings.

The Amsterdam City Centre Mövenpick Hotel on the eastern waterfront offers 362 standard and 14 executive rooms as well as 31 junior and ambassador suites on 20 floors. The hotel also provides a conference area with a ballroom, restaurant and bar, wellness area, and business lounge.

The hotel's design is distinctively modern. The world-renowned architect Claus en Kaan was contracted to design the building. The interior design is the work of the German firm Tombusch & Brumann.

The LCD mini-panel MT 701 was used in the hotel to visualise and control different lightscenes and atmospheres. With it, the user can control and influence building functions from a central location. Switch actuators and binary inputs were used in the entire building to realise various lightscenes and light applications in the hotel.

A specially produced version of the M-SMART switch range in aluminium was selected for use in the hotel.
