Innovative products for practical use in offices, hotels and homes were presented at the new Merten trade fair booth at light+building 2006.
The spectacular architecture of the booth drew attention to exemplary situations like a periscope. The entire set up enabled visitors to see and experience what can be achieved with Merten products. Solutions for intelligent buildings - presented to show their practicality and design excellence.
In the four large-format cubes, different living and working situations were put on display. Graphic presentations and real decor in combination with functional electrical appliances showed the advantages and uses of Merten products.
A separate cube was set up especially as a sales marketing information point whereMerten partners could come and receive concise expert information on everything about sales and consulting support.

Memobox
You've got to dash out of the house quickly but you want to leave a message for your loved ones. No need for pen or paper! Just speak into the Memobox in the hall. This and many other additional functions can now be integrated into the multi award-winning Merten switch design. Capacity: max. 8 messages total recording time: 120 seconds
Multi-functional clock
The multi-functional clock with integrated timer function is excellent for use in the kitchen, for example. You will always know when the pasta is al dente or the vegetables are just right. Functions: time, date, inside temperature, alarm and countdown timer
Radio thermometer
Is the weather outside as warm or as cold as it looks? Now you can see at a glance on the Merten radio thermometer. Range: 30 m measuring range: -20°C to +45°C
It's installed in next to no time
Installing these three tiny helpers is anything but a big job. Just replace the existing 2-gang frame with a 3-gang frame. Then insert the Memobox, multi-functional clock or radio thermometer, and that's it.

IP TOUCH PANEL - TRUE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES |

Always having everything in view and under control - these are classic leadership qualities that are also in demand in intelligent building management. And the new IP touch panel 10" has them.
Current statuses of buildings and functions can be displayed clearly and controlled conveniently with this unit. Windows CE is installed as the operating system. This is the ideal condition for the quick and easy configuration of solutions such as data management, web, client/server and network functions.
The IP touch panel 10" has the best connections: via LAN (10/100 Mbit/s), RS 232 or USB. A plug-in KNX module enables the IP touch panel 10" to be directly connected to KNX. merten@home can also be used via a browser in conjunction with the IC 1 KNX Internet controller.
Its flat design means the IP touch panel 10" is suitable for use in the home and other buildings. On request, the aluminium front cover can also be exchanged for a M-PLAN real glass frame.

Intelligent time-switch socket outlets provide improved protection for electrical appliances, such as coffee machines or printers, from overheating.
The new SCHUKO timer socket-outlet insert with increased protection against accidental contact switches itself off automatically after a set time (15 min / 30 min / 1 h / 2 h / 4 h / 8 h).
The connected appliances will only consume energy when they're actually in use. It's good for safety and saving energy.
The SCHUKO timer socket-outlet insert is available for all design variants and surfaces in System M.

KNX PUSH-BUTTON PLUS - LESS IS MORE |

The new KNX push-buttons plus offer large, easy-to-use operating surfaces and have a bus coupler already integrated. This makes installation easier and prevents the bus coupler being swapped over by mistake. Thanks to the completely revised software, KNX push-buttons plus combine together a lot of new functions such as:
| • | Option of dimming brighter or darker or controlling blinds with just a single key |
| • | Calling up and saving scenes |
| • | Edge control that differentiates between long and short key presses
|
The KNX push-buttons plus are available in System M and System Design. Depending on what you require, you can choose from a 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang (System Design only) or 4-gang push-button as well as a 4-gang push-button plus with IR receiver. The latter not only functions on the familiar Distance remote control but it can also be programmed into existing remote controls.

SWITCH - THE CULTURE OF SWITCHING |

Switching something on or off has become an inevitable part of our daily life whether it be a light, the computer or the TV. And we do this so automatically that hardly anyone thinks about how switching could actually be designed to look completely different.
For Merten, this was the chance to develop a design strategy for the future. Using the core concept "Switch - the culture of switching" as an overall framework, the future of Merten's design was scrutinised by Stylepark together with a selection of design specialists.
The ideas can be seen in an exhibition designed by Marc Krusin from Milan being shown in the Frankfurt Museum for Applied Art. The exhibition is open until 21 May 2006.

The top class interior and exterior design event
You can't find this anywhere else in such a compact form: top design products from all sectors in interior and exterior design as well as design-oriented household technology components - all presented on the one same stage!
The "Design Annual" is a unique 5-day event in which manufacturers from the top design sector present themselves to both visitors with a general interest in design and design experts at the Festhalle Frankfurt.

CLEAR RULES - MERTEN SUPPORTS ELEKTRO+ |

Mandatory minimum standards and a general increase in the present installation values for electrical systems in residential buildings - this is what ELEKTRO+ is demanding.
The aims: Planning norms increase the transparency of tendering and simplify the pricing of offers for planners and electricians. Electrical systems that are dimensioned according to the needs of the market make reinstallations unnecessary. The increased risk of fire that such reinstallations cause is thus avoided as well.
These are worthwhile targets that Merten supports as a partner of ELEKTRO+.
